All of your save data is stored in plain text files as a subdirectory of the saves folder in the main KSP folder. Each save game has its own folder, which includes subdirectories for VAB and hanger ships. Simply copy the desired folders (be it the entire save or just a few . craft files) to the new install location.

How do you save your game in KSP?
Inside your save’s folder, there is another folder called “Backups”. That may have been what was being referred to. Otherwise just hitting ESC and clicking the “Save Game” button will let you create a save and you can name it whatever you like.

Is KSP realistic?
The orbit simulation is quite accurate, including how to change inclination, raise/lower orbits, leave a planet, and approach a new planet. The staging is somewhat accurate. The use of fuel, acceleration, mass, etc. are pretty accurate.
Why is kerbin so small?
Kerbin was made before there timewarp was implemented, its smaller size allows 30 minute orbits compared to the 90 minute ones for an Earth-like planet. Most everything else was scaled from there.
